Wat Thepthidaram Worawihan, a third-class royal temple of the Worawihan type, was built in 1846 by King Rama III to honor his granddaughter, Princess Sommanat Wattanawadi. Princess Sommanat later became the first queen consort of King Rama IV. It’s located along the city moat (Khlong Rob Krung).
Loha Prasat
This is the first and only metal castle in Thailand, tucked within Wat Ratchanatdaram Worawihan. This architectural wonder, formerly called Iron Monastery, was built during the reign of King Rama III. It was constructed into a 7-storey building with 37 castle peaks, representing the 37 virtues that lead to enlightenment in Buddhism. The top of the castle on the 7th floor is where the Buddha’s relics are enshrined. There is a spiral staircase of 67 steps to walk up to enjoy panoramic views of the Rattanakosin Island.
